Congregational Partnership
The Faith and Environment Network hopes to form partnerships with 8 to 10 congregations in
the Spokane area. The partnership includes three aspects that allign with our mission statement.
Partnering congregations will receive public recognition for their efforts.
• Appreciating: Outdoor Service To help nurture a love for nature, we can lead a congregational group outside for a service project or some purposeful recreation. We plan to join conservation groups, Riverside State Park, and the US Forest Service to do some good, hard work. Service projects include trail maintenance, tree planting, and weed eradication. We will also join outdoors groups for purposeful recreation such as hiking along our beautiful Spokane River or through a proposed wilderness area.
• Understanding: Educational Presentations To help inform people of faith about the environment, we can give a presentation at your congregation. We offer a brief general presentation and a discussion with one of several local experts about green living, the Spokane River, or wilderness and wildlife issues. We also put out an occasional e-newsletter to let people know about upcoming outdoors events, local environmental groups, other faith-based environmentalists, and green living tips.
• Caring: Congregational Stewardship To help live out the call to environmental stewardship, we can work with you at your place of worship to become more environmentally responsible and save money. Starting with a free, professional waste audit and energy audit, we can work help to improve waste management by reducing, reusing, and recycling, and to implement energy and water conservation measures.
